Teacher Interview

The other day I interviewed my neighbor who happens to be a 10th grade history teacher. She wanted to stay anonymous and I will respect that. I asked her various questions on how she felt the educational system is and her thoughts on it, and I've concluded she wants the educational system to change. She believes that standards and tests aren't the correct way to evaluate a student. She made a remark saying have you ever had a bad test day? She thinks that there should be a different way to evaluate and "grade" a student.

Obama and Educational Reform

This website I found says that obama was pushing 4.35 billion dollars in competetive grants. I'm not too sure what to think of this but was interesting reading about

George Carlin on Education

Yes the title says it all, the best comedian ever on education. He brings up the argument on how schools need more money etc and it's not doing anything. This is a video that you should definitely check out!

Finland's Education

This is a video showing Finland's educational success. This is actually a Brit tv show so it's a different point of view other than the us shows saying Finland is the best. This only adds to how everyone looks up to Finland. It shows how these kids go to school they relax. Take their shoes off and know their teachers by their first name. Which sounds odd but all these little things may add up to a better experience for the student. Which ultimately adds up to Finland's great success in education.

Prop 19

This isn't on education but will be voted on in november. It is the proposition proposing the legalization of marijuana. This is just a video of different perspectives. Personally, I think it should be passed because it may help out California's economy through taxing the marijuana. Granted it may flip peoples taboos but it may end up helping.
